A new chapter for your data. Oracle → MariaDB, engineered for Indonesia.Explore the approach
Oracle to MariaDB

Move beyond Oracle.
Bring what matters with you.

Preserve business intent, validate application behavior and build a more adaptable data platform. Start with the evidence—not a promise of a one-click switch.

01

A credible business case.

Model legacy costs, the target operating model and migration investment together. Make the decision with visible assumptions.

02

A workload-specific path.

Identify Oracle-specific features, PL/SQL dependencies and data semantics before choosing conversion and migration techniques.

03

A controlled transition.

Agree the acceptance criteria, rehearse the sequence and make rollback an explicit decision—not an afterthought.

THE MIGRATION JOURNEY

Replace uncertainty
with decision points.

Each stage produces something your technical, business and risk stakeholders can review.

01

Discover

Map the workload, dependencies and business case.

02

Prove

Test compatibility and the highest-risk assumptions.

03

Engineer

Build the target, convert and validate together.

04

Rehearse

Practice cutover, reconciliation and rollback.

05

Operate

Hand over, observe and continuously improve.

A migration timeline is established after discovery. Low downtime, performance improvements and cost reductions are objectives to validate, not blanket guarantees.
COMPATIBILITY, WITHOUT THE SHORTCUTS

Know what carries over.
Know what needs craftsmanship.

MariaDB’s Oracle mode supports a documented subset of Oracle SQL and PL/SQL. The real work is understanding where your application relies on specific behavior.

Precision, date/time behavior, null handling and query semantics.Representative query results and data-validation tests.Stored routines, dynamic SQL, exceptions and version-specific support.A conversion backlog and tested remediation patterns.Connectors, transactions, connection pools and embedded SQL.Integration and regression-test results.Dataset size, change rates, reconciliation and cutover windows.A rehearsed movement plan with recovery checkpoints.Monitoring, access, backup, restore and failover behavior.Runbooks and validated recovery procedures.

BUILD YOUR OWN BUSINESS CASE

Better economics.
Start with your numbers.

Explore an illustrative total-cost scenario. Replace every sample value with your own assumptions. This is a planning tool, not a quote or a savings claim.

Your assumptions

All values in USD. Sample values are illustrative only.

Include the legacy costs relevant to your comparison.
Include infrastructure, subscriptions, support and operations.
Include conversion, testing, parallel running and training.
ILLUSTRATIVE SCENARIO / YOUR INPUTS
$65,000.00

Modeled cost reduction over 3 years.

Current platform$180,000.00
Proposed + migration$115,000.00

Current = annual cost × years.
Proposed = annual cost × years + one-time migration.

No discounting, inflation or growth is applied. Costs not entered are not included. Actual results depend on scope, pricing and execution.

QUESTIONS WORTH ASKING

Before you make the move.

Is MariaDB a drop-in replacement for Oracle?

Not for every application. Oracle mode supports a documented subset of Oracle SQL and PL/SQL, and behavior varies by version. A representative proof of concept and application testing are essential.

Can we migrate without downtime?

The acceptable window is a requirement to assess. Data volume, write rate, synchronization options, dependencies and verification steps determine the viable approach. We do not promise zero downtime.

What if some applications cannot move?

The assessment can identify candidates for staged migration, remediation or retention on the source platform. A mixed estate may be more sensible than forcing every workload into a single cutover.

How do we decide whether the migration is ready?

Agree technical and business acceptance criteria, validate data and application outcomes, rehearse recovery, and obtain a named go/no-go decision from the responsible stakeholders.

LET’S BUILD WHAT’S NEXT

The first deliverable
is a clearer decision.

Capture your source platform, workload and priorities. Turn them into a structured starting point for discovery.
